For the record, Indiana Fever fans are wondering about head coach Stephanie White’s rotation after guard Sophie Cunningham played a mere seven minutes in a blowout loss to the Washington Mystics.
The sudden decrease in playing time has prompted speculation on social media that Cunningham may have been disciplined after viral video comments she made about the team’s hard practices.
The theory emerged from comments Cunningham made on an episode of her “No Hesitation” podcast. The veteran guard talked about making the move to her new team as she recounted Indiana’s practice schedule late in the season.
“Getting traded up here to Indiana, we’re practicing, man! Like, we practice, practice. We are still practicing for probably like two hours versus guys full court, hard.
Yeah.
And we’ve got four more games left… So, to each their own. Everyone has a different style. We’ve got a very rookie team too, so maybe they’re learning how to be a pro and so I can see both sides of it. But we’re still practicing, like, two and a half hours, hard.”
Although Cunningham cited youth on the roster as a factor in the heavy workload, her statement soon began to be shared on social media, leading to discussion among WNBA fans about workload and fatigue.
