ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has said that the party’s call for a protest march on October 4 remains in place for now, ARY News reported.
Talking to the media, Barrister Gohar said he met a delegation of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) today and invited it to attend the All Parties Conference (APC).
He said the PPP delegation assured him that it would inform the PTI about its participation after consultation.
Barrister Gohar said the APC would discuss the overall political situation in the country, along with security and provincial matters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said votes were taken in Punjab while powers were being taken away in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“If provincial autonomy in KP is affected today, Punjab will face the same situation tomorrow,” he said.
The PTI chairman said governments should be removed according to the Constitution and not through signals.
He said the long march had been postponed by consensus until October 4 in accordance with the decision of the party’s political committee.
Barrister Gohar said the mandate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa belonged to PTI founder Imran Khan and Sohail Afridi would remain chief minister as long as he had the support of the party founder.
He also denied reports attributed to Noorain Niazi, saying that he and his family had rejected all such reports.
Questioning the possibility of governor’s rule or an emergency in KP, Barrister Gohar asked what would be the basis for such a step.
“Do they want to wipe out the Pashtun mandate in this way?” he asked.
He warned that the PTI would strongly resist any imposition of governor’s rule or an emergency in the province.
Barrister Gohar said terrorism could not be used as a basis for imposing governor’s rule, adding that terrorists were the common enemy of all four provinces and the people of Pakistan.
