Magistrate recovers 28 people from Karachi Civil Defence compound

KARACHI: An important development has emerged in the case of 28 people allegedly kept in illegal confinement at a Civil Defence office, ARY News reported.

The report of Nabi Bakhsh police station has been obtained by ARY News. According to the report, 28 people were recovered from the Civil Defence compound a day earlier and their details have been entered in the daily police diary.

The 28 people were recovered during a raid conducted by a magistrate at the Civil Defence compound. The recovered individuals also complained of alleged mistreatment by police during their detention.

Sources said the recovered people were linked to individuals detained by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU). Police officials reportedly revealed that the people had allegedly been kept in illegal confinement at the Civil Defence compound on the instructions of the SIU SHO.

The individuals were allegedly picked up from different locations and shifted to the Civil Defence compound.

The relevant police officers have been summoned to court tomorrow, while senior SIU officials are investigating the matter in detail.
