After Cristiano Ronaldo left the national team’s camp and had a falling out with coach Jorge Jesus, the Portuguese Football Federation banned him for thirty days. A fine of 255 euros has also been imposed by the Federation’s Disciplinary Council.
It is pertinent to note that after arguments with the coach, Cristiano Ronaldo quit the national team camp three weeks ago.
International news agency Reuters reported that before a Nations League game against Denmark this month, top football player Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly abandoned the national team’s camp in Copenhagen. He had previously been listed among the substitutes in a match versus Norway instead of being fielded.
Regarding his involvement in the game, Ronaldo had claimed that coach Jorge Jesus had broken his word twice. Although he did not rule out the prospect of Ronaldo rejoining the team after Portugal’s 2-1 triumph, the coach denied the existence of any such arrangement.
The Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation claims that Ronaldo willfully broke the code of conduct. The report about the incident in question had surfaced two days prior to the commencement of proceedings in this case on October 9.
It is unclear from the federation’s announcement which games or activities will be subject to the 30-day ban and whether the time already completed during the interim suspension will be applied.
Notably, Ronaldo has expressed regret for leaving the camp without his colleagues and for neglecting to greet the supporters during the game against Norway. Additionally, he declared that after serving his suspension, he will be available for the national team.
Everyone in the Portuguese Football Federation wants Ronaldo to rejoin the national squad once the issue is settled, according to Pedro Proença, head of the organization.
