KARACHI: Four fishermen have died within a week after returning from a month-long fishing trip in the sea, police said, while the cause of their deaths remains unclear.
According to Sukkun police, the four fishermen returned about a week ago after spending nearly a month at sea. All four died within seven days of their return.
Police said two fishermen died five days ago, while another died yesterday and the fourth passed away today.
All four fishermen were receiving treatment at different hospitals. Doctors reportedly declared their deaths natural, according to police.
Police said the fishermen had developed a condition in which they were unable to pass stool or urine.
Family members said the fishermen had complained of kidney pain after returning from the sea. They also told their families that they believed they had developed a spiritual illness.
The families of the deceased have expressed no desire to pursue legal action, police added.
