Ireland opens doors to 6 more professions on critical skills list

Ireland

Ireland’s Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment has expanded its Critical Skills Occupation List to include six additional professions.

The list was expanded in order to attract high-quality global workers to fill significant staffing shortages in key sectors of the economy such as agriculture, construction, healthcare, intellectual property, and the interactive gaming industry.

The Critical Skills Employment Permit (CSEP) regime is one of Ireland’s main economic instruments to attract talent globally.

In addition to allowing highly skilled individuals to take up employment in Ireland without the requirement for a labour market test, the scheme also provides a simplified route to long-term residency and settlement together with family reunification for successful applicants.

The six new occupations incorporated into the official list are:

These scientists are experts in the field of crop production and who do research into agricultural science.

Specialists in charge of planning, project management, and operational efficiencies for large-scale building projects.

Practitioners serving regional and public health optometry and vision care needs.

Intellectual Property Professionals: We engage legal and technical professionals to develop, defend and manage current IP holdings and portfolios.

GIS Surveyors: Consisting of land surveyors and geomatic specialists, whose primary role is to facilitate infrastructure development and mapping.

Riggers in the Games Industry: Advanced technical specialists employed in the expansionist digital video games and entertainment industry.

Ireland will also maintain competitiveness by constantly adjusting its immigration policies to ensure that they are aligned with the current market needs, further augment its economy, support its strategic infrastructure and technology sectors, and solidify its position as a leading destination for skilled emigrants from around the world.
