The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment in Pakistan has issued a set of guidelines for Pakistanis living and working in Saudi Arabia, aimed at helping them avoid difficulties during their stay.
Workers are advised to carry their Iqama (Saudi residence permit), with them at all times and ensure it is renewed before it expires. They should also wear the required safety equipment at their workplace.
Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia have also been advised to keep copies of their monthly salary slips and bank statements, and to keep track of their end-of-service benefits, also known as gratuity.
The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment also recommended that employees send money to family members in Pakistan only through official and authorized channels.
Workers should keep a copy of their employment contract and set aside part of their monthly income as an emergency fund.
Before leaving Saudi Arabia, they should ensure that all required exit-clearance procedures have been completed.
Pakistani citizens are also advised to dress modestly in public places and respect religious sites, Islamic practices, and local customs.
The guidelines further advise Pakistanis to save the emergency contact number of the Pakistani embassy or consulate in Saudi Arabia so they can seek assistance if needed.
