Apple has confirmed that the issue will be fixed with a future software update An apparent iPhone 18 Pro reboot issue has been addressed by Apple which should be resolved with a future iOS update.
The new flagship smartphones, which launched just days ago, were found to be randomly freezing and rebooting themselves, with analytics data showing a “panic-full” critical error occurring immediately beforehand.
It appears that the glitch is most likely to activate when a Face ID try fails. For example, try to open a locked app, such as a banking website or private browser tab, if the try to identify yourself with your face fails and you press try once again, the screen freezes and forces a complete reboot of the system.
Tech analysts had suggested initially that the iPhone 18 Pro has hardware components, such as the under-display mounted infrared camera, could be causing the problem, but Apple has since confirmed that the issue is purely software.
The bug fix update will be pushed out by Apple next week in an upcoming iOS release, probably in a future update to iOS 27.0.1. Apple representatives have reassured affected users that they do not need to visit a retail store for repairs as the upcoming software fix will address the kernel panic problems.
While we wait for the fix, users who get their iPhone or iPad to freeze can put their devices into manual reboot mode by quickly pressing and releasing the volume up and down buttons, then holding the side button until the Apple logo appears.
