NAWABSHAH: A trailer driver died and cleaner injured after collision between two trailers at the National Highway near Qazi Ahmed, police said.
“A trailer caught fire after the accident, burning the driver to death, while cleaner of the vehicle got serious injuries,” motorway police officials said.
Deceased driver has been identified as Manzoor Ahmed, a native of Mianwali district. “The body of the driver and injured cleaner have been shifted to taluka headquarters hospital Qazi Ahmed”, police said.
The injured being provided medical attendance at the health facility.
“Two trailers have been taken into police custody and the incident being further investigated,” officials added.
Road accidents are rampant caused by irresponsible road behaviours, such as over speeding, reckless driving, while poor road condition also contribute significantly in road mishaps. Many roads in the country are poorly maintained, with potholes, cracks, and inadequate lighting, making nighttime driving especially hazardous.
