KARACHI: An event organizer allegedly fled with the mobile phones of more than 50 girls at a farmhouse in Karachi’s Gadap area, ARY News reported.
According to police, the event organizer, identified as Salman, told the girls that making videos at the farmhouse was not allowed and collected their mobile phones.
The girls had arrived at the farmhouse in two buses. After collecting their phones, Salman allegedly fled with the phones.
Police have taken the farmhouse manager into custody, while the affected girls reached Gadap police station.
One of the affected girls told police that they were called to the farmhouse on the pretext of a job. They were told that they would be provided food and Rs2,000, while training for setting up stalls would also be given.
The girls were allegedly told they were being called to a private society, but were instead brought to the farmhouse. They were also told that their boss would hold a meeting there.
The affected girl said their mobile phones were collected and receipts were attached to them. They came to know in the evening that their phones had been stolen.
According to her, manager Salman fled on a motorcycle with another man while carrying the phones in a bag.
Police have recorded the statement of the farmhouse manager. The farmhouse administration told police that they had been informed that a corporate event was being organised and that girls would attend it.
The administration said it was told that a boss would deliver a speech and the event would end in the evening. It also said that it had not received payment for the event.
The farmhouse administration confirmed that a man named Salman took the mobile phones and fled.
