RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has announced revised tariffs for electricity, water and wastewater services across the Kingdom, with the new rates scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027, the Saudi Gazette reported on Tuesday.

The adjustments come alongside royal directives to provide support for employees in the military, government and private sectors.

Electricity tariff adjustments

The Saudi Energy Company announced changes to electricity consumption rates and fixed monthly charges, with the revised tariffs varying according to customer category, consumption levels and circuit breaker capacity.

Under the new residential tariff, electricity consumption of up to 6,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per month will be charged at 21 halalas per kWh, up from 18 halalas. Consumption exceeding 6,000 kWh will be charged at 33 halalas per kWh, compared with the previous rate of 30 halalas.

For commercial establishments and private healthcare and educational facilities, the rate for monthly consumption of up to 6,000 kWh will rise from 22 to 25 halalas per kWh. Consumption above that threshold will increase from 32 to 35 halalas per kWh.

In the industrial sector, electricity supplied through the transmission or distribution network will be charged at 23 halalas per kWh, up from 20 halalas.

Agricultural electricity tariffs will rise from 18 to 19 halalas per kWh for monthly consumption of up to 6,000 kWh, and from 22 to 23 halalas for consumption exceeding that level.

For charitable organisations, the tariff will increase from 16 to 17 halalas per kWh for the first consumption tier and from 20 to 21 halalas for consumption above 6,000 kWh.

The government sector will be subject to a single-tier tariff of 35 halalas per kWh, up from 32 halalas.

The Saudi Energy Company urged individual and corporate customers to consult its official website for details of the revised tariffs. Customers were also encouraged to use the company’s official communication channels for inquiries about billing and implementation.

Water and wastewater tariff adjustments

The National Water Company announced revised tariffs for water and wastewater services covering residential, non-residential and government customers. Consumption charges will be calculated according to four monthly usage tiers.

Water consumption will be charged at SR1 per cubic metre for the first 15 cubic metres, SR2 per cubic metre for consumption exceeding 15 cubic metres and up to 30 cubic metres, SR4 per cubic metre for consumption exceeding 30 cubic metres and up to 45 cubic metres, and SR6 per cubic metre for consumption above 45 cubic metres.

Wastewater charges will be SR0.50 per cubic metre for the first tier, SR1 for the second tier, SR2 for the third tier and SR3 for the fourth tier, which covers monthly consumption exceeding 45 cubic metres.

The revised tariffs also include monthly charges based on water meter diameter.

For water meters, the charges will be SR20 for diameters of up to 20 millimetres, SR40 for diameters ranging from 21 to 40 mm, SR60 for 41 to 65 mm, SR80 for 66 to 100 mm, and SR100 for diameters exceeding 100 mm.

For wastewater services, the corresponding monthly charges will be SR10 for meters up to 20 mm in diameter, SR20 for 21 to 40 mm, SR30 for 41 to 65 mm, SR40 for 66 to 100 mm, and SR50 for diameters exceeding 100 mm.

The revised schedule also provides for additional charges of SR20 for water and SR10 for wastewater for each additional unit.
